Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. seeks a Structural Bridge Engineer in Illinois to lead highway/rail bridges and related structures. You will perform advanced calculations, analyze designs, and prepare plans while collaborating with senior staff and multidisciplinary teams on significant national projects.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a PE license, and strong knowledge of bridge design codes. IDOT/NBIS leadership and proposal support are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural coursework.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Structural Engineer (SE) registration or ability to obtain one; SE preferred.
• Approved IDOT NBIS Team Leader (preferred).
• Experience with IDOT/Illinois Tollway/FDOT/TxDOT (preferred).
• Experience managing project staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in leading bridge projects within Hanson’s Infrastructure Market.
• Perform complex engineering calculations and utilize software tools for analysis and design.
• Collaborate with senior technical staff and multidisciplinary teams on national projects.
• Conduct structural analysis and design, prepare specifications, details, and construction plans.
• Assign duties, manage project budgets, and mentor entry- and mid-level staff and technicians.
• Prepare and review calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
• Support project pursuits and proposal development.
• Assist in developing project scopes and fee proposals.
• Other duties as assigned.
