Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior structural engineer to own the hardware lifecycle for aerospace structures, from concept to integration. You will specialize in composite and metallic designs for spacecraft and launch vehicles and lead design reviews with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 6+ years of relevant experience, and strong skills in CAD (Creo/Windchill) and FEA (Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, Hypermesh).

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. degree in engineering.
• 6+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
• U.S. citizen or national or eligible status.
• Experience with vehicle load-path distribution and first-order strength assessment and sizing.
• Experience with CAD/FEA tools and structural design fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own the full hardware lifecycle from requirements through integration.
• Analyze, develop, and test metallic and composite unpressurized structures.
• Complete hand calculations and finite element analyses to report margins of safety.
• Document stress analyses supporting release of engineering drawings and documents.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams throughout design, manufacturing, and mission integration.
• Support development and operations of payload accommodations hardware for launch vehicles.
