Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a senior structural engineer to lead design and analysis for a heavy‑lift launch vehicle upper stage. You will coordinate with subsystem teams, support manufacturing, and ensure quality across high‑stress hardware in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, performing FEM analyses, and driving manufacturability and cost‑saving improvements. U.S. work authorization required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; 7+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with launch vehicles or aerospace structures; load path distribution and strength assessment.
  • Expertise in structural analysis using hand methods and FEA techniques.
  • Knowledge of material selection, compatibility, and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced FEM modeling skills (boundary conditions, bolts, contacts, verification).
  • Strong CAD skills with Creo and ability to interpret ASME Y14.5 tolerances.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of primary and secondary structures, including composites and metallic pieces.
  • Coordinate with subsystem teams on structural interfaces.
  • Provide on-site manufacturing and production support; travel as needed.
  • Ensure production quality and disposition of hardware nonconformances.
  • Support configuration development and trade studies.
  • Perform analysis reviews for designers and junior analysts in stress, stability, and fracture analysis.
  • Work with teams to select materials, processes, and suppliers.
  • Develop enterprise analysis capabilities and automation tools for models and reports.
  • Maintain and report activity schedule, budget, and technical status.
  • Mentor junior engineers and identify cost-saving opportunities.
