Job summary

Blue Origin Engines seeks a structural analysis engineer to lead analysis of rotating and static components for engines and propulsion systems. You will perform hand calculations and FEA, document stress analyses, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering with 5+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS Workbench, Nastran, Abaqus, or LS-Dyna.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, strength, fatigue, and creep.
  • Experience with welded assemblies and bolted joints.
  • Scripting experience (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.).
  • Experience with rotating machinery (turbopumps, compressors, fans).

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural analysis of rotating and static components through design, development, testing and validation.
  • Perform detailed hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) of rotating and static hardware to evaluate strength, fatigue, and creep.
  • Collaborate with team members from various fields to optimize design performance and durability.
  • Document stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings and documents.
  • Improve enterprise analysis capabilities by creating process automation tools for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation.
  • Support test plan development to verify requirements and generate material and structural data necessary to establish confidence in design solutions.
