Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a structural analyst to design, certify and test pressurized and unpressurized structures for the NewGlenn rocket. You will perform hand calculations, FEM analyses, and support hardware qualification campaigns.

The role requires a BS in engineering with 3+ years in aerospace structures, proficiency with Nastran/Ansys/Abaqus, experience with Creo/CATIA, and ability to mentor junior analysts.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering; MS preferred; 3+ years in aerospace structures.
  • Proficiency with FEA codes and analysis techniques (Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, Abaqus).
  • Experience with development and/or qualification testing (test requirements, setup/configuration, test predictions, test conduct).
  • Knowledge of aerospace and/or launch vehicle structural requirements.
  • Familiarity with classical sizing methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark).
  • Experience with Fatigue and Fracture Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Detailed hand calculations and FE analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
  • Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings/documents.
  • Planning and executing test campaigns; creating reports for hardware qualification.
  • Supporting configuration development and trade studies.
  • Mentoring and analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts.
  • Improving enterprise analysis capabilities and automation tools.
