Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Colorado is seeking a Structural Analyst III to perform structural analyses for space electro-mechanical systems, using hand calculations and FEA. You’ll support design from concept to implementation and mentor junior engineers in a highly collaborative Motion Control team.

Requirements include a 6+ year background in structural analysis (or 4+ with a Master’s) and experience with ANSYS or similar FEA tools, with strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of structural analysis experience or 4+ with Master's
• Knowledge of elasticity, plasticity, and failure in engineering material/structures
• Knowledge of structural statics/dynamics, including PSD, SRS, Miles Equation, fatigue damage, static/dynamic equilibrium, stress/strain/modulus, bending/shear/axial force development
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software
• Experience with metallic materials
• Ability to write technical reports and present results to a multi-disciplined team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analysis on various designs and materials, including composites and metals
• Manipulate large-scale finite element models that support internal loads development
• Interpret analytical results to support testing and design optimization of electro-mechanical systems
• Produce engineering documentations, reports, and manipulate technical data from hardware testing
• Collaborate closely with engineers, manufacturing, and technical management to communicate design issues and develop solutions
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior engineers
• Demonstrate technical leadership in projects, handling highly complex issues and problems
