Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to set technical direction across membership growth, benefits, and platform infrastructure for Uber One.

You will design large-scale distributed systems powering membership lifecycle, eligibility, and real-time personalization across rides, delivery, and grocery. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product, data science, and business leaders, deliver high-quality designs and code, and ensure architectural coherence in a 70+ person

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development in production.
• Backend, distributed systems, and large-scale low-latency design.
• Ability to lead multi-team technical initiatives across orgs.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Data Science, Marketing.
• Mentor engineers including Senior and Staff ICs.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across engineering pillars for a 70+ engineer org.
• Design and evolve large-scale distributed systems for membership lifecycles and benefits.
• Lead multi-team initiatives with cross-organizational dependencies.
• Drive data-informed product engineering with instrumentation and experiments.
• Architect scalable, low-latency systems with high availability.
• Mentor engineers and elevate engineering standards.
