Job summary

Uber for the Membership org seeks a senior software engineering leader to architect and scale member experiences across UberEats and UberX. You will drive platform evolution, design robust systems, and mentor engineers to improve velocity and quality.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact features, own technical debt reduction, and raise observability and incident response standards for the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years work experience in software engineering building large scale systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Expert level skills in one or more programming languages (Go, Java, Python, Kotlin, Swift, C++).
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, system design, and architecture.
• Proven experience owning critical and large-scale platforms and reducing systemic technical debt.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects end-to-end through all lifecycle stages.

Responsibilities

• Identify new opportunities to evolve the Uber One program across UberEats and UberX.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, Data Science and Designers to design, build, and optimize products used by millions of members globally.
• Architect robust, highly available, and scalable systems to serve millions of users and resolve technical tradeoffs.
• Drive technical strategy for platform evolution, microservices, and API design.
• Own architecture reviews, observability, and incident response across the organization.
• Mentor and coach staff and senior engineers with thought leadership and guidance.
