Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Senior Staff DevOps Engineer for the Cortex Production Engineering team in Santa Clara. You will ensure reliability, scale, availability, and operational efficiency of a large‑scale cloud platform.

You will lead infrastructure, automation, and observability initiatives, mentor engineers, and partner with multiple teams to raise the technical bar. You will work hands‑on with production systems and drive critical improvements in deployment, monitoring, and incident

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Production Engineering, or cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience operating large-scale production environments.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong experience with public cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform, Python, GitOps).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Troubleshooting across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, cloud infra, distributed systems.
• Ability to lead complex projects across multiple teams and mentor engineers.
• Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure for Cortex services.
• Lead complex DevOps, reliability, and automation initiatives from design to production.
• Troubleshoot production issues across Kubernetes, cloud, and networks.
• Improve platform reliability with monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.
• Build automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce toil.
• Mentor engineers and set engineering best practices.
• Contribute to IaC, CI/CD, and GitOps deployment improvements.
