Job summary

Palo Alto Networks' Cortex Cloud team is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the development of next‑generation cloud security solutions and run highly scalable cloud platforms. You will guide high‑performing engineering teams, shape technical execution, and cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence while delivering secure, reliable services.

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience including enterprise-scale cloud services
2+ years leading software engineering teams
Proven experience delivering scalable, distributed cloud-native apps and services
5+ years designing cloud-based architectures on AWS, GCP, or Azure
Hands-on programming in Golang or Python
Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native design
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern container orchestration
Experience building production services with emphasis on scalability, reliability, observability
Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and cloud operations
Experience leading Agile teams delivering full-stack cloud apps
Strong leadership with data-driven decision making and stakeholder management
Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

Lead the technical strategy and execution for cloud security solutions and guide architectural decisions
Build, develop, and retain high-performing engineering teams through hiring, mentoring, and career development
Drive planning, prioritization, estimation, and delivery across multiple initiatives
Collaborate with Product Management, Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Customer Success to deliver Security-as-a-Service
Lead teams responsible for designing, building, deploying, and operating scalable cloud security platforms with end-to-end ownership
Champion engineering excellence by focusing on quality, reliability, security, observability, and operational best practices
Establish and monitor engineering metrics including service reliability, availability, and performance
Drive operational excellence through incident management, RCA, automation, and continuous improvements
Contribute to architecture and design discussions while empowering engineers to own decisions
Foster diversity, inclusion, curiosity, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
Partner with Customer Support to improve customer experience and product reliability
Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
