Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) seeks a Senior Staff Chief Engineer to lead a multi-disciplinary team in the Advanced Aircraft Operating Unit (OU) located in Redondo Beach or El Segundo, CA.

The successful candidate will drive air vehicle concepts, development, demonstrations, and transition of cutting-edge technologies across flight regimes, including autonomy and air weapons systems concepts.

Qualifications

BS in STEM with 14+ years of related experience; MS with 12+; or PhD with 8+ years.
Experience in air vehicle design, development, and testing.
Experience cross‑BU collaboration and with customers/partners.
Active US Government Secret clearance or higher; ability to obtain SAP/TS/SCI.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

Serve as the technical authority for the OU, directing activities and ensuring coordination.
Define and control technical requirements and ensure cross-project integration.
Interface with the customer and company leadership as the principal technical contact.
Ensure programs follow engineering principles and company policies/standards.
Oversee performance measures within cost and schedule constraints.
Chair the Technical Review Board (TRB).
Support risk and opportunity management for technical areas.
Provide leadership and mentoring in systems engineering principles.
