Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Staff Chief Engineer to join the Battle Management OU in Redondo Beach or El Segundo, CA. This role leads a multidisciplinary team, advancing autonomy, JADC2, and BAST initiatives, and interfaces with customers and senior leadership.

The position requires a BS in a STEM field with extensive experience or an MS/PhD with progressively higher responsibilities, plus active DoD clearance; travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a related STEM discipline with 14 years of experience; OR a Master of Science with 12 years; OR a PhD with 8 years.
• Demonstrated experience in air vehicle flight autonomy, mission autonomy, and battle management command & control architectures/implementations.
• Active US Government Secret or higher clearance (or in Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain SAP and TS/SCI clearance and travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for the OU and provide technical direction to activities.
• Define and control technical requirements and ensure coordination across projects.
• Interface with the customer and company senior leadership.
• Ensure programs adhere to engineering principles and quality standards.
• Oversee and ensure technical performance within allocated cost and schedule.
• Chair the Technical Review Board (TRB).
• Support risk and opportunity management by identifying risks to technical performance.
• Mentor technical contributors in applying systems engineering principles.
