Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design seeks a Senior Staff Chief Engineer for the Expendables (Advanced Weapons) OU in Redondo Beach or El Segundo, CA. The role leads a multi-disciplinary team, shaping technical direction from concept to flight demonstrations and program transitions.

You will own technical requirements, coordinate across projects, interface with the customer, and mentor engineers while upholding standards.

Qualifications

• BS in STEM with 14+ years related experience, or MS with 12+ years, or PhD with 8+ years in expendables or high-speed air-breathing systems.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and programs across business units.
• Active US Government Secret clearance or higher; ability to obtain SAP/TS as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Expendables OU engineering team across R&D, flight demos, and program transitions.
• Define technical requirements, coordinate across projects, and interface with customer and senior leadership.
• Ensure programs meet technical performance within cost and schedule; chair TRB and manage risks.
