Job summary
Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) seeks a Senior Staff Chief Engineer to lead the Battle Management OU in Redondo Beach/El Segundo, CA. The role drives multi-disciplinary R&D from concept to demonstrations in autonomy, JADC2, and C2 architectures.
The candidate will guide a team, coordinate with customers and leadership, and ensure programs meet technical and quality standards while supporting travel and security requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a related STEM discipline and 14 years relevant professional/military experience; OR MS with 12 years; OR PhD with 8 years.
- Demonstrated experience related to air vehicle flight autonomy and battle management architectures/implementations.
- Experience interfacing with customers and company leadership.
- Experience collaborating across multiple business units and with partners.
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical authority for the operating unit and provide direction.
- Define technical requirements and ensure cross-project coordination.
- Interface with customer and senior leadership.
- Ensure programs follow engineering principles and quality standards.
- Oversee technical performance and chair the Technical Review Board.
- Assist risk management and mentor technical contributors.
