Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Staff Chief Engineer for the Future Aircraft OU in Redondo Beach or El Segundo, CA. The role leads a multidisciplinary team on air vehicle technologies, from early concepts to demonstrations and flight prototypes.

The candidate will drive technical direction, coordinate requirements across projects, and interface with customers and senior leaders, while ensuring adherence to engineering standards and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 14 years of related experience.
• Master of Science in a STEM discipline; 12 years of related experience.
• Ph.D. in a STEM discipline; 8 years of related experience.
• Experience in air vehicle conceptual design, vehicle tech development and demonstration, or prototype testing.
• Experience integrating multiple engineering specialties across business units and with partners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for the OU, providing technical direction to funded activities.
• Define and control technical requirements; ensure cross-project coordination.
• Serve as principal technical interface with customer and senior leadership.
• Ensure programs adhere to engineering principles and quality standards.
• Oversee technical performance within allocated cost and schedule resources.
• Chair the Technical Review Board (TRB).
• Support risk and opportunity management by identifying technical risks.
• Mentor technical contributors in applying systems engineering principles.
