Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design (RAD) seeks a Senior Staff Chief Engineer for the Battle Management OU. The role leads a multi-disciplinary team executing R&D in autonomy, JADC2, and BA&T domains at Redondo Beach or El Segundo, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a related STEM discipline with 14 years of experience; OR a Master with 12 years; OR a PhD with 8 years of experience.
• Experience with air vehicle flight autonomy, mission autonomy, and battle management command & control architectures/implementations.
• Active US Government Secret or higher clearance with ability to obtain SAP and TS/SCI; travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for the OU and provide leadership to funded and contracted activities.
• Define and control technical requirements, ensuring coordination across projects.
• Interface with the customer and company senior leadership.
• Ensure programs adhere to engineering principles and standards.
• Chair the Technical Review Board (TRB).
• Support program managers in risk and opportunity management and mentor contributors in systems engineering.
