Job summary

Seattle Social Housing Developer seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to lead day-to-day accounting, payroll, and financial reporting for a growing portfolio of social housing projects. You will design and maintain internal controls, manage external audits, and ensure compliance with GASB and GAAP.

The role requires strong communication, independence, and the ability to mentor junior staff in a dynamic public development authority setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience; at least two years in month-end close and financial statement prep.
• Experience leading or coordinating annual audits and supporting tax filings.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close; maintain close calendar and checklists.
• Oversee payroll processing, reconcile liabilities, and resolve payroll issues.
• Oversee accounts payable and vendor administration with proper approvals and 1099 compliance.
• Prepare and review complex journal entries including accruals and deferrals.
• Perform reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Maintain chart of accounts and fund/project structures for reporting.
