Job summary

Akamai's Site Reliability team is seeking a Senior SRE to advance Linux kernel, KVM/QEMU, and virtualization on bare-metal and cloud platforms. You will help design, implement, and operate infrastructure that scales across billions of users, partnering with a multinational engineering group.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
Advanced experience in Linux internals, system administration, and hardware features in Linux.
Advanced level experience with the Linux kernel, OS, KVM/QEMU, and nested virtualization.
Expert level experience designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale.
Experience in an engineering role with large-scale distributed systems.
Experience with SaltStack, Ansible, Kubernetes, Chef, or Puppet.

Responsibilities

Developing, testing, and distributing changes to software, services, and tools to enable hardware platforms.
Designing and implementing enhancements to observability infrastructure to identify and correct problems.
Developing subject matter expertise and mentoring the team.
Identifying and implementing automation best practices for existing products and processes.
Collaborating with support, operations and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex problems.
Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues.
