Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer Lead to advance hardware platform software, kernel, and virtualization capabilities. You will influence Linux internals, KVM/QEMU, and large-scale distributed systems across a multinational team in a fast-moving environment.

You will mentor engineers, improve observability, and drive automation while participating in on-call rotations to ensure high-availability services across Akamai's compute infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in SRE or related role
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Deep Linux internals knowledge and hardware understanding
• Experience with KVM/QEMU and nested virtualization
• Experience with SaltStack and Ansible for infrastructure at scale
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, test, and distribute changes to software and infrastructure for hardware platforms
• Enhance observability infrastructure to detect issues before customers are affected
• Develop subject matter expertise in HIVE components and mentor the team
• Identify and implement automation best practices for existing products and processes
• Collaborate with support, operations and engineering to troubleshoot complex problems
• Participate in on-call rotations and guide restoration of service-impacting issues
