Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for the Hardware, Infrastructure, and Virtualization (HIVE) Core Linux Platforms Team. This remote US role focuses on Linux kernels, virtualization, and observability to ensure platform reliability across Akamai's compute infrastructure.

The candidate will mentor teams, drive automation, and collaborate with global engineering, operations, and support to resolve complex issues, including on-call rotations and rapid restoration of services.

Qualifications

5+ years of Linux kernel and virtualization experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Experience with large-scale distributed systems and automation tools.

Responsibilities

Developing, testing, and distributing changes to software and tools for hardware platforms.
Designing and implementing enhancements to our observability infrastructure to identify and correct problems before they impact our customers.
Developing subject matter expertise in our components and mentoring the team.
Identifying and implementing automation best practices for existing products and processes.
Collaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems.
Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues.
