Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to design, develop, and manage scalable automation and infrastructure supporting Akamai Cloud products and services.

The role focuses on reliability, security, and usability at scale, with emphasis on Linux administration, configuration management, automation, monitoring, and incident response. You will lead on-call rotations and mentor other engineers across global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• 5 years of relevant experience
• Extensive experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and scripting (Bash, Python, Perl)
• Good attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Ability to coordinate with external teams across geos
• Hands-on experience with modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated tools to improve system reliability, deployment processes, and incident response
• Improve system monitoring and alerting to speed error detection and remediation
• Build automation to reduce operational toil and accelerate incident response
• Contribute to capacity planning, autoscaling configuration, and workload scheduling
• Investigate platform components to enhance stability and performance
• Participate in on-call rotations and mentor other engineers
