Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the HIVE team. You will design, implement, and scale automation, observability, and tooling for compute services in a large distributed environment.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in engineering, deep Linux kernel knowledge, and hands-on experience with KVM/QEMU and nested virtualization. You will collaborate across support, operations, and engineering to resolve complex issues and optimize performance.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Site Reliability/engineering.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Expert Linux kernel and admin capabilities with HW features.
Experience with large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and distribute changes to automation, software, services, and tools for the HIVE team.
Design and implement enhancements to HIVE observability infrastructure.
Work with new tooling, code, and environments; automate where possible.
Create tooling using Ansible or profiling to aid performance investigations.
Develop SME knowledge across components in the Compute environment.
Collaborate with support, operations, and engineering to troubleshoot complex problems.
