Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer Lead to join the HIVE team in Cambridge, MA. You will lead architecture, development, and automation for hardware platforms and virtualization layers, mentor engineers, and improve observability to prevent customer-impacting issues.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in on-call rotations while shaping scalable software and infrastructure solutions for Akamai's compute services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or site reliability.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Architecting, developing, testing, and distributing changes to software, services, and tools for hardware platforms.
• Designing and implementing enhancements to HIVE observability infrastructure to identify and correct problems before they impact our customers
• Developing subject matter expertise in HIVE components and mentoring the team.
• Identifying and implementing automation best practices for existing products and processes.
• Collaborating with support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems.
• Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues.
