Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Boston, MA with hybrid/remote flexibility across Philadelphia, PA. You will administer Microsoft SQL Server, perform migrations, and optimize performance in a government services setting.

The role requires at least 5 years of SQL Server DBA experience, strong virtualization skills (VMware, Hyper‑V), and familiarity with cloud environments (Azure/AWS).

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of SQL Server DBA experience.
• Experience with SQL Server 2012–2016 migrations.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Familiar with VMware or Hyper‑V virtualization.
• Experience with cloud environments (Azure/AWS).

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore, SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide systems administration support for hardware and software.
• Recommend/implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement and support Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and Web Services.
• Support virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper‑V; configure VMs.
• Perform backups per MPA policies; daily incremental and weekly full backups.
• Monitor space and database activities; provide extended support as needed.
