Job summary

CGS is seeking a Senior Database Administrator II to manage Microsoft SQL Server across on-premise and cloud environments in a hybrid model (Baltimore/MD and Rockville, MD areas). The role emphasizes database administration, migrations, backups, and performance tuning within a federal/ government-services context.

You will work with VMware and Hyper-V virtualization, support SDLC processes, and coordinate with IT teams to ensure data integrity and availability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience related directly to SQL Server Database Administration.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Experience with visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience and knowledge related to source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC, and integration of Relational Databases.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential and/or sensitive materials.
• Comfort with and willingness to work in groups and individually on both large and small projects.
• Ability to document, explain, and present any task related to decisions and processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer SQL Server including backups, replication, and SSIS/SSRS/SSAS.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide systems administration support for hardware/software deployments and configurations.
• Recommend and implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning solutions.
• Implement, deploy, and support Microsoft technologies (Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Web Services).
• Support virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and configure virtual machines.
• Perform database backups per policy, including daily incremental and weekly full backups.
