Job summary

Programmers is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to oversee on-prem and Azure SQL environments supporting critical production workloads. You will manage provisioning, upgrades, backups, monitoring, and security while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.

The role requires 10+ years in SQL Server, expertise with AlwaysOn/ clustering, log shipping, and performance tuning. You will collaborate with application teams to validate changes and optimize queries.

Qualifications

10+ years of SQL Server administration experience.
Experience with 30+ TB databases and high-transaction workloads.

Responsibilities

Manage production SQL Server environments, including provisioning, patching, and upgrades.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery (AlwaysOn, failover clustering, log shipping).
Perform backup, restore, and recovery operations.
Monitor and optimize database performance, queries, and indexing.
Support application releases and validate database changes.
Implement security controls, access management, and compliance standards.
Perform capacity planning and forecasting.
Troubleshoot incidents and drive root cause resolution.
Support Azure SQL / cloud-based deployments where applicable.
