Job summary

Diversified Systems seeks a Database Administrator to implement, configure, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server across on-premises and Azure environments. The role emphasizes performance, availability, security, and disaster recovery with RBAC, encryption, and monitoring.

You will collaborate with development and IT teams, support SSIS/ETL, automate maintenance with PowerShell, and participate in architecture discussions. Remote work with potential on-site in Columbus, OH.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical field, or equivalent work experience required.
• 5+ years of dedicated hands-on experience managing enterprise-level Microsoft SQL Server database environments, including on-premises and Azure-based platforms required.
• 5 years of Performance Monitoring and Tuning experience required.
• 5 years of Security and Compliance experience, including implementing RBAC, required.
• 5 years of Developer Support and Code Review experience required.
• Deep expertise in SSMS and underlying database internals required.
• Advanced knowledge of Transact-SQL (T-SQL) required.
• Experience implementing SSIS packages and ETL workflows required.
• Experience supporting Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines required.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server instances across production, staging, and development environments.
• Manage server storage, system databases, and data file structures.
• Monitor system health, resource allocation, and server metrics.
• Optimize database performance by writing or refining indexes, tuning complex queries, and resolving blocking or deadlock issues.
• Design, test, and execute database backup and recovery policies.
• Implement HA and DR solutions including Always On, Log Shipping, Failover Clusters, and replication.
• Develop and orchestrate Azure and on-prem DBMS architectures.
• Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Develop T-SQL, PowerShell, and CLI scripts to automate maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with IT teams to design DBMS architecture and data security models.
