We are seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments across both on-premises and Azure platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server administration, database performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR), database security, automation, and cloud-based database services. This role will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, integrity, and security of critical database systems supporting enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server environments across production, staging, and development systems.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, optimize queries, tune indexes, and resolve blocking or deadlock situations.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Failover Clustering, and Replication.
- Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server running on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Develop and maintain database architectures that support business requirements, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
- Configure and support Azure monitoring, backup, migration, disaster recovery, and security solutions.
- Collaborate with application developers and architects to review database designs, schemas, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and complex T-SQL code.
- Implement role-based security models, database permissions, encryption, and compliance standards.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Automate maintenance activities using T-SQL, PowerShell, and scripting tools.
- Provide Tier III support for complex database incidents and critical production issues.
- Work closely with IT leadership, architects, and security teams to align database environments with organizational standards and State of Ohio security requirements.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to database strategy, planning, and operational excellence initiatives.

Required Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Advanced SQL Server performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization experience.
- Strong expertise in T-SQL development, stored procedures, functions, indexing, and database design.
- Experience implementing and supporting HA/DR solutions.
- Experience managing Azure SQL platforms and hybrid cloud environments.
- Knowledge of database security, encryption, access controls, compliance, and auditing.
- Experience with database migration, integration, and ETL processes using SSIS.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and T-SQL.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with Azure database migrations and cloud modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with cost optimization, scalability planning, and Azure networking concepts.
- Experience with Redgate or similar database monitoring and backup tools.
- Experience supporting Disaster Recovery, Incident Response, or Business Continuity operations.
