Job summary

Republic Airways is seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to own core database activities and drive modernization across the enterprise data platform. You will design for scale, harden production systems, and partner with IT to keep mission-critical workloads stable. Exposure to Azure Synapse and Fabric is valued.

Lead, mentor, and standardize governance and DR processes while collaborating with data engineers, BI, and application teams to ensure reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered.
• 8+ years as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
• Expert-level T-SQL for query development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with HA/DR, security hardening, and patching.
• Knowledge of Azure SQL and Azure Synapse Analytics.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and configure SQL Server instances across clustered, standalone, and cloud environments.
• Monitor health, analyze plans, optimize indexes, and troubleshoot performance.
• Design backup strategies, perform restores, and ensure RPO/RTO targets.
• Implement Always On AG, replication, and failover clustering for high availability.
• Enforce security standards, manage roles/permissions, and audit readiness.
• Develop automation using PowerShell and T-SQL; manage SQL Agent jobs.
• Lead modernization efforts and partner with data engineering/BI teams.
