Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a senior database professional to administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments across on-premises, Azure, and AWS. You will design HA/DR architectures, manage patching and migrations, and lead incident response to strengthen reliability.

The role requires deep expertise in performance tuning, security controls, and automation, with collaboration across development, DevOps, and security teams to modernize cloud workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of experience within a total information technology (IT) environment.
• At least 10 years of experience with the design, development and support of technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-premises, Azure, and AWS cloud environments.
• Design, implement, and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping.
• Perform database installations, configurations, patching, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management activities for production and non-production environments.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure platform stability.
• Lead production incident response, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve operational reliability.
• Partner with application development, infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to support application deployments, database releases, and cloud modernization initiatives.
• Manage and enhance backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies to meet enterprise resiliency requirements.
• Drive automation, operational excellence, database governance, and security compliance while mentoring engineers and promoting database best practices.
