Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services is seeking experienced engineers to support DOE projects at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX. The role focuses on design, procurement documentation, and multi-discipline leadership for specialty equipment, with a requirement for extensive machine design background and active DOE Q clearance.

The position is on-site, full-time, with 10-hour days Mon-Thu, core hours 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years designing custom mechanical equipment.
• Experience leading multi-discipline teams across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation/controls, HVAC, piping and welding.
• Ability to develop detailed procurement and fabrication specifications for custom equipment.
• Experience with engineering calculations and analyses (FEA, structural/seismic, heat transfer).

• Create design and procurement documents for specialty equipment.
• Collaborate with designers to develop build-to-print packages.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and analyses.
• Lead multi-discipline teams on complex machine design projects.
