Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) seeks a senior Civil Design Engineer to develop detailed design packages and provide field and technical support for DOE projects at Y-12 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas.

The role requires an ABET-accredited engineering degree with 15–20 years of experience, and the ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance. Pre-employment drug screening and medical exams may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.
• Willingness to work in a production environment.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DOE Q clearance.
• Post-offer pre-employment drug screen and pre-placement medical examinations may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop high quality detailed design packages and provide engineering procurement and field technical support.
• Lead or contribute as part of an integrated project team or as a technical lead for multi-discipline tasks.
• Perform walk-downs in existing facilities to generate design documents and provide field support.
• Apply established engineering practices, codes and standards to solve problems.
• Oversee storm and storm drain designs, road design, soil evaluation, and coordination with outside firms.
