Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) seeks Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and procure custom equipment for DOE projects at Y-12 in Oak Ridge and Pantex in Amarillo. You will develop build-to-print designs, prepare specifications, and perform comprehensive design analyses.

Ideal candidates have 20+ years of total experience, 10+ years in design, ABET-accredited engineering degree, and DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain one. On-site role with long hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in design/specification of custom mechanical equipment.
• Total career experience of 20+ years.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• Active DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to create design and procurement documents for custom equipment.
• Develop build-to-print design packages and equipment specifications.
• Perform machine design analyses including FEM, structural/seismic, heat transfer.
• Lead multi-discipline teams across mechanical, electrical, HVAC and welding.
