Rocket Lab is seeking a Principal Flight Software Engineer to join our Space Systems team in Littleton, CO. You will develop flight software for spacecraft, work from requirements through coding and testing, and test on orbit frequently.

You’ll interface with hardware, software, and systems engineers to ensure robust, verifiable software for space missions. The role requires a strong background in embedded software, C/C++, Rust, RTOS or Embedded Linux, and leadership experience.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in Rust, C++, and C languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Experience leading junior software developers and collaborating across disciplines.
• Active security clearance OR ability to obtain one.
• US citizenship is required.

Responsabilidades

• Develop application software to run on RTOS and/or embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels, and sensors/actuators.
• Develop and maintain unit tests within CI framework.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify software/hardware functions.
• Collaborate with systems/embedded engineers on requirements development and validation.
• Review code changes and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Assist with on-orbit and interplanetary flight operations.
