Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks a Senior Flight Software Engineer II with active Secret clearance to contribute to real-time software running on RTOS/embedded Linux aboard space systems. You will develop and test software, hardware drivers, and unit tests, and collaborate across hardware-in-the-loop and systems teams to meet demanding spaceflight requirements.

Responsibilities include design reviews, on-orbit operations support, and ensuring code meets safety and coding standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Active Secret Clearance, ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• 8+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run within RTOS and/or embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, Star Trackers, Reaction Wheels and other sensors/actuators.
• Create and maintain unit tests for CI.
• Collaborate with HW-in-the-loop test engineers to verify combined software/hardware functionality.
• Work with systems/embedded engineers to develop and validate requirements.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) and code reviews.
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
