Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is looking for a Senior Flight Software Engineer I to help build flight software for our Space Systems programs. You will contribute from requirements through coding and testing, with on-orbit validation and frequent testing opportunities.

You will develop software for RTOS/embedded Linux, write hardware drivers for IMUs and star trackers, and participate in CI-tested unit tests and design reviews. Citizenship and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop software for RTOS/embedded Linux environments on spacecraft.
• Create hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, and reaction wheels.
• Develop unit tests and integrate in CI pipelines.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and embedded software teams.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) and on-orbit operations.
