Job summary

Rocket Lab, based in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Senior Flight Software Engineer I to support flight software development for Space Systems programs. You will design, implement, and test software that runs on RTOS/Embedded Linux, with on-orbit testing windows and frequent opportunities to impact space missions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering or CS, 5+ years in embedded software, and an active Secret Clearance with potential TS/SCI.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
5+ years of embedded software experience.
Proficiency in C and C++.
RTOS or Embedded Linux experience.
U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Develop RTOS/embedded Linux application software for flight systems.
Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, Star Trackers, reaction wheels and sensors.
Create and maintain unit tests within CI framework.
Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop testers to verify software/hardware integration.
Work with systems/embedded engineers to develop and validate requirements.
Review code changes to meet coding standards and participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR).
Assist with on-orbit and interplanetary flight operations.
