Job summary

CesiumAstro, a pioneer in satellite communication systems, seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of spacecraft structures and deployable interfaces. You will mentor engineers across design, analysis, and testing, driving architecture trades and ensuring robust flight hardware.

The ideal candidate has 11 years of satellite structures experience, 5+ years of leadership, and a strong CAD/FEA background, with hands-on experience in environmental testing and spaceflight

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 11 years of experience in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design from concept to decommissioning.
• At least 5 years of experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with environmental test campaigns (vibe, shock, TVAC).
• Expertise with CAD/FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, Nastran).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers for mechanical aspects of CesiumAstro spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces through all development phases.
• Deliver robust mechanical designs from concept through space flight, including requirements, architecture trades, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and in-orbit support.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executive team; contribute to proposal writings.
