Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer II to lead a team designing spacecraft structures and interfaces through all development stages. You will direct mechanical architecture, analyses, and testing, collaborating with cross-functional subsystems such as GNC, RF, and EPS.

The role requires hands-on, launch-ready design leadership, strong communication skills, and a track record of delivering robust mechanical solutions for space hardware.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 11 years of experience in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design.
• 5+ years of experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with multiple flight missions and full mechanical development cycles.
• Experience with CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks, Ansys, Nastran).
• Design for test, manufacturability, and reliability.
• CNC manufacturing and GD&T expertise.
• Spacecraft AI&T experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers across the mechanical design of CesiumAstro spacecraft.
• Define requirements, architecture trades, and block diagrams.
• Oversee analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and qualification.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present design reviews to customers and executive team.
• Contribute to proposal writing.
