Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Sr Mission Systems Engineer to shape mission architectures, lead critical trade studies, and guide system design from concept to execution. You will collaborate across vehicle and ground segments, drive interface control, and mentor multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust space missions.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in systems engineering, MBSE experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years in systems engineering, mission design, or complex systems development.
• Ability to lead technical projects with high autonomy.
• Deep knowledge of SE lifecycle from requirements to test.
• Proven experience leading trade studies and architecture.
• Experience supporting capture/proposal activities.
• Proficiency with Python or MATLAB scripting.
• Experience with MBSE tools like Cameo SysML.
• Excellent communication across disciplines.
• Active Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support formulation of new products, mission areas and programs.
• Contribute to capture and proposal activities, including technical content.
• Develop mission architectures, CONOPS, and end-to-end system designs.
• Decompose mission objectives into verifiable requirements.
• Drive trade studies to optimize performance, cost, and schedule.
• Define and manage system interfaces and ICPs.
• Provide SE support to multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee verification, validation and test campaigns.
• Serve as technical authority for the mission system.
