Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in California is seeking a Sr Mission Systems Engineer to drive the technical development of space missions from concept through execution. You will lead system architecture, decomposing objectives into verifiable requirements and guiding multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include supporting capture and proposals, conducting complex trade studies, and ensuring system interfaces across vehicle and ground segments, with emphasis on MBSE practices and rigorous verification

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, mission design, or complex system development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and operate with autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Support the formulation of new products, mission areas, and programs, translating customer needs into technical concepts.
• Contribute to capture and proposal activities, including technical content and color team reviews.
• Develop mission architectures, CONOPS, and end-to-end system designs for novel space applications.
• Decompose mission objectives into verifiable requirements with traceability.
• Drive complex trade studies to optimize performance, cost, and schedule; present findings to leadership.
• Define and manage system interfaces; lead interface control working groups across vehicle and ground segments.
• Provide systems engineering support to multidisciplinary teams; oversee verification, validation, and test campaigns.
• Participate in major technical design reviews and act as a technical authority for the mission system.
