Job summary

BLUE ORIGIN is seeking a Sr Mission Systems Engineer to lead the development of mission systems for new spaceflight applications. You will guide the technical integrity of the system from concept through mission execution, with autonomy and technical leadership across the project.

The role requires shaping new products and programs, driving trade studies, and supporting proposals while coordinating across vehicle and ground segments. Relocation is provided and travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, mission design, or complex system development.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects autonomously.
• Deep understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle from requirements to test.
• Experience leading trade studies and architecting complex systems.
• Experience supporting capture and proposal efforts with technical content.

Responsibilities

• Support formulation of new products and mission areas from customer needs and market opportunities.
• Contribute to capture and proposal activities, technical approaches, and color team reviews.
• Develop mission architectures, CONOPS, and end-to-end system designs for space applications.
• Decompose mission objectives into verifiable requirements with traceability.
• Drive complex trade studies to optimize performance, cost, and schedule.
• Define and control system interfaces and lead interface control teams.
• Provide SE support to multidisciplinary teams; oversee verification and test campaigns.
• Contribute as a technical authority at major design reviews.
