Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to lead spacecraft system design for a strategic mission within Blue Ring. You will guide architecture, manage requirements, and ensure integration across hardware, software and test facilities to meet mission objectives.

You will mentor engineers, drive risk management, and work with program leadership to align technical plans with cost and schedule while advancing spaceflight safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering field and 10+ years in spacecraft-related engineering.
• Proven leadership of cross-functional technical programs from concept to deployment.
• Strong knowledge of control theory, signal processing, and closed-loop design.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural baseline development and drive long-term system roadmap.
• Lead requirements decomposition and interface control across subsystems.
• Provide technical direction for CONOPS and mission planning.
• Act as technical lead for milestone reviews and cross-program decisions.
• Mitigate complex system risks and drive technology maturation.
• Oversee integration of spacecraft hardware, software, and controls into test facilities.
• Develop MBSE frameworks, MBEE, HIL/SIL capabilities to accelerate verification.
• Collaborate with leadership to align technical execution with cost and schedule.
