Job summary

Blue Origin, located in Seattle, WA, seeks an experienced Avionics Engineer to lead design and ownership of digital, analog, and mixed-signal avionics boards across the full product lifecycle. You will work on Blue Moon landers and related products, contributing to safe and reliable spaceflight hardware through thoughtful design and rigorous testing.

The role emphasizes hands-on hardware development, collaboration across teams, and communicating status and risks to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Experience with analog, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Familiar with microcontrollers, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, Op Amps, power supplies (linear, LDO, DC/DC), memory (DDR, NAND, NOR).
  • Knowledge of communication methods: RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, PCIe.
  • Willingness to travel 10% to other Blue Origin locations.
  • Desire to work hands-on through development and production phases.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and own digital, analog, and mixed-signal avionics designs that interact with other systems.
  • Own avionics boards across the lifecycle from concept to production release.
  • Support architecture trade studies, performance characterization, and device selection.
  • Support risk analyses, FMECA, WCCA, DFx, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
  • Participate in program tech development, mission assurance, and process improvements.
  • Communicate status, risks, and challenges clearly to management.
