Job summary

Skydio, a leading US drone company, seeks a Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering for National Security, Defense. This remote US role travels ~50% internationally to support engagements, with the team reporting to the Director of Solutions Engineering – National Security.

You will shape upstream requirements, design field trials, drive technical strategy, and coordinate with Sales to convert pilots into programs of record. Strong defense domain expertise and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant technical experience, including defense customers.
• 5+ years federal government or defense experience in a UAS discipline.
• 1+ years leading a technical team, with hiring/mentorship responsibility.
• Defense acquisition process knowledge from requirements through fielding.
• Technical depth in UAS platforms, RF/datalink, sensors, software integration, or IT security.
• Comfort operating in a sales-driven environment with quota ownership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work in a remote US environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Solutions Engineering team with ownership and coverage across agencies.
• Set quality standards for demos, trial plans, designs, RFx responses, and docs.
• Allocate SE capacity across the segment; communicate tradeoffs to leadership.
• Maintain sustainable travel tempo to balance field presence and retention.
• Define pursuit strategy, field trial design, and technical narrative for wins.
• Serve as escalation point for complex deployments and customer issues.
• Collaborate with Sales on pipeline, forecast, and account planning.
• Shape requirements with program offices and operators early.
