Job summary

AES is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will qualify opportunities, perform technical diligence, and respond to RFPs for renewable energy projects in the 2 MW to 500 MW range.

The role collaborates with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams and may require up to 15% travel to project locations and partner offices.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with renewable energy modeling tools (PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD).
• Proficiency with MS Office and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for development projects (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for development projects (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new opportunities, assessing third-party estimates, site plans and meteorological data.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition studies up to 30% design.
• Develop technical deliverables for RFP responses, coordinating internal/external teams.
