Job summary

AES Corporation in the United States is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will work with a team to qualify opportunities and respond to utility and municipal RFPs, coordinating with Business Development, Execution and Finance teams.

This role focuses on preliminary design evaluation, site assessments, and technical diligence, with 2–500 MW scale projects.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with renewable energy system modeling tools (PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
• MS Office applications, advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries, etc.).
• Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing accuracy and feasibility of third-party provided production estimates, site plans, product documentation and meteorological data.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition conceptual to 30% design studies.
• Development of technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals, both by self-performing, and coordinating external consultants.
