Job summary

The AES Corporation seeks a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will qualify opportunities, perform technical due diligence, and respond to RFPs from utilities and municipalities to procure renewable energy.

Team coordination spans Business Development, Execution and Finance. The role requires depth in PV and storage design, with projects from 2MW to 500MW, and experience in proposal

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope and Plant Predict.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office (advanced Excel).
• Master’s degree in engineering or MBA (plus).
• NABCEP PV Installation Professional or PV Design Specialist certification (plus).
• OSHA 10hr or equivalent safety certification (plus).
• SketchUp/Skelion mastery (plus).

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing third-party data.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition studies up to 30% design.
• Develop technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals.
