Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally, increasing our portfolio of owner-operated renewable power plants.

The Senior Development Engineer will assess opportunities, perform technical due diligence, and respond to RFPs from utilities and municipalities, coordinating with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams. Travel up to 15% is required.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
5+ years of renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
Proficiency with renewable energy system modeling tools (PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
Proficiency with MS Office applications, advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing third-party estimates and plans.
Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition studies up to 30% design.
Develop technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals.
