Job summary
AES Corporation seeks a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will work with a team to qualify opportunities, perform technical due diligence, and respond to RFPs from utilities and municipalities for renewable energy procurement.
The role covers preliminary design evaluation, coordinating with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams. Travel up to 15% is required.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate engineering degree or equivalent technical field.
- 5+ years of renewable energy project development, design, and analysis.
- Experience with PV/battery storage project modeling and financial metrics.
Responsibilities
- Model energy production and battery dispatch for development projects.
- Perform site evaluation both remotely and on-site.
- Assist with project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
- Create preliminary plant designs and layouts.
- Recommend key project equipment (inverters, PV modules, batteries).
- Conduct technical diligence on third-party data and documentation.
- Support RFPs and development/acquisition studies through 30% design.
- Develop technical deliverables for proposals, with internal/external teams.
